They’ve sacrificed their entire lives.
Surely we can afford 3.5 hours.

CLAC members care for seniors – why doesn’t the government?

The elderly in Ontario—our parents, our children’s grandparents—go without personal, professional care 21.2 hours per day. That leaves them with only 2.8 hours of hands-on interaction per day. That’s it—2.8 hours. Crumbs. Our pets get more personalized interaction than that. Prisoners get more than that.

This situation has to change. Our seniors, tens of thousands of them in long term care homes across the province, helped make Ontario what it is today. They got us where we are, and we can’t abandon them.

We’re better than that. A mere 42 more minutes of care—from 2.8 to 3.5 hours of care per day.

An extra 42 minutes of dignity, of doing right by our elderly. Whatever it takes to increase funding to make this happen, make it happen. We demand it, those who care for the elderly demand it, and most importantly, our seniors deserve it. Don’t abandon them—3.5 hours per resident per day, find a way.
